💡 Why Study Spanish?
Spanish has around half a billion native speakers across Spain and Latin America and is the second most spoken native language in the world. Pronunciation is regular and the vocabulary shares a great deal of Latin ancestry with English, so beginners make visible progress quickly. The place where progress usually stalls is verb conjugation, which is precisely what spaced repetition handles well.
📝 Study Tips for Spanish
Drill the irregular verbs hardest
Regular -ar, -er and -ir endings follow patterns you learn once. The frequent irregulars — ser, estar, ir, tener, hacer — carry a disproportionate share of everyday speech and deserve disproportionate review time.
Separate ser from estar early
Both translate to "to be" and the distinction has no English equivalent, so it must be learned through many contrasting examples rather than a single rule.
Learn nouns with their article
Memorise el or la alongside the noun. Gender governs adjective agreement, and retrofitting it later is far more work than absorbing it from the start.

What do the Spanish decks cover?
▼
A beginner vocabulary and phrases set, plus a dedicated deck drilling present-tense conjugation across the hundred most frequently used verbs.
Is this European or Latin American Spanish?
▼
The core vocabulary and grammar are shared across both. Differences are mostly in pronunciation, a handful of everyday words, and the use of vosotros in Spain.
Do I need grammar study alongside flashcards?
▼
Flashcards build the vocabulary and conjugation recall that grammar study depends on. They work best paired with reading or a course rather than used alone.
How long until I can hold a conversation?
▼
That depends on speaking practice, not card count. Flashcards remove the vocabulary bottleneck; conversation still requires conversation.
Can I export these to Anki?
▼
Yes — each deck downloads as a standard .apkg file from its topic page, free and without an account.
