Expressing varying degrees of certainty is one of the first skills that distinguishes fluent speakers from learners, and Croatian offers a family of phrases that fill this gap. The straightforward conviction 'Nema sumnje da...' (There's no doubt that...) can be intensified to 'Bez ikakve sumnje' (Without a doubt) or, when a speaker wants to sound especially emphatic, 'Izvan svake sumnje' (Beyond a shadow of a doubt). To summarise an entire argument succinctly, Croatians reach for the productive verb 'Sve se svodi na...' (It all boils down to...), while the related phrase 'Razumije se' (It goes without saying) marks a presupposition that the speaker treats as common ground. Together, these set expressions let you calibrate the force of your claim without choosing adjectives word by word.
B2 conversation also requires control of how directly one speaks. The phrase 'Iskreno govoreći' (To put it bluntly / Speaking honestly) opens an honest admission, while 'Idemo na stvar' (Let's get to the point) signals impatience with small talk. A speaker who rambles is told 'Nemoj okolišati' (Don't beat around the bush), and a clear, plain statement is encouraged by 'Reći stvari pravim imenom' (To call a spade a spade). Discussion tactics include 'Igrati vražjeg odvjetnika' (to play devil's advocate) and the escalation marker 'Da stvar bude gora' (To make matters worse), while philosophical resolve is captured by 'Što god se dogodi' (Come what may).
