Diagnostics & Optimization

Even a well-configured integration requires ongoing tuning, and Google Ads offers several tools to guide optimization. Optimization Score estimates from 0% to 100% how well your account is set up to perform, and its Recommendations, automated AI suggestions, may advise adding keywords, raising budgets, or repairing conflicting negatives. Bid strategy statuses like Learning signal that the algorithm is currently gathering performance data, typically over seven days, during which results may fluctuate; this is normal and advertisers should avoid making structural changes mid-learning. Conversion Action Sets allow you to group conversion actions and apply them to specific campaigns, overriding account-level goals, for example a Lead Gen campaign can be set to optimize only for Submit Lead Form actions. Within these actions, Primary conversions influence bidding and headline reporting, while Secondary conversions are observed and reported but do not affect bidding.

To diagnose reach, Impression Share reveals whether you are losing traffic due to budget or Ad Rank, while Negative Keywords filter irrelevant queries to improve ROI. Landing Page Experience continues to weigh on Quality Score: Google evaluates load speed, mobile friendliness, navigation, and relevance to user intent when scoring ads. For larger organizations, a Manager Account, sometimes called an MCC, links multiple Google Ads accounts under one dashboard and enables Cross-Account Conversion Tracking so unified goals can be shared across business units.

When conversion numbers between HubSpot and Google Ads diverge, the cause usually lies in one of three areas: differences in Attribution Models, since HubSpot and Google may apply different models to the same journey; differences in Date of Attribution, with Google typically tying conversions to the click date while HubSpot uses the conversion date; or differences in Time Zones between the two systems. Debugging Enhanced Conversions is straightforward: Google Tag Assistant verifies on-page whether the enhanced conversion variable is populated and transmitted correctly. Parallel Tracking improves user experience by loading the landing page directly while the tracking URL resolves in the background, reducing lost visits from slow redirects. Finally, if you ever disconnect Google Ads from HubSpot, tracking stops immediately and no new data syncs; historical records remain in HubSpot but audience syncs and conversion uploads will fail.
