Chess Openings Strategy

A strategic two-player board game played on an 8×8 board with 16 pieces per side.

16 — 1 king, 1 queen, 2 rooks, 2 bishops, 2 knights, 8 pawns.

To checkmate the opponent's king.

When a king is in check and cannot escape capture.

When a player has no legal moves but is not in check; a draw.

One square forward, or two on its first move; captures diagonally.

In an L-shape: two squares in one direction and one perpendicular.

Diagonally any number of squares.

Horizontally or vertically any number of squares.

Any direction, any number of squares.

One square in any direction.

A special move where the king moves two squares toward a rook, and the rook jumps to the king's other side.
